June is in Bloom at the Parish House Inn

Lilies in bloom

River view from the swing
Even though our location is just 20 minutes or less from just about anywhere in this area in downtown Ypsilanti,
Climbing roses blooming on the patio
June at the Parish House Inn is all about the plants and  flowers blooming in the garden, around the patio and along the Huron River.  Guests like to sit in the glider or swing and just enjoy the view while reading a book, having  a glass of wine , or an early morning cup of coffee. Today is the first official day of summer and the heat has arrived. Thanks to air conditioning, it is cool and comfortable inside.
Don't forget Cruise night in depot Town is every Thursday from 5 PM to 9PM until mid September and just a 10 minute walk through Riverside park....just book your room right on line.
There are many summer events and activities in  Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor. You can find out the schedules at  The Ypsilanti Area Visitors and Convention Bureau.

Repairs are Complete at the Parish House Inn

New paint on windows and walls
These are the photos showing the finished  repairs that have been done to the exterior of the house.  All the windows are freshly painted with the burgundy color.  The window frames have been repaired and painted as necessary with the light sand color.  And the side of the house has been scraped and painted the dusty rose.  It all looks fresh and beautiful.  The floor on the front porch and the stairs to it have been repaired, replaced and painted.  A much needed improvement.  Our sign was in bad shape and now it has been replaced with a new one that looks like the old one.   You can't see it, but our chimney on the roof has also had work done.  So now we are all bright and shiny again and ready for you.  I decided to add the photos of the roses, just  to remind you of how beautiful our patio is during the summer.  the peonies are also in full bloom.  The yellow Stella D'Oro day lillies are setting out buds and will be blooming in a few days...book your room on line and join us!

Strawberry Butter is Tasty on Toast at the Parish House Inn

June brings the promise of fresh strawberries available at many u-pick farms as well as farmers markets.  This recipe uses fresh strawberries with butter and cream cheese to make a delicious spread for toast, muffins and scones...and it couldn't be easier.  I am looking forward to creating delicious food from all the fresh fruits and vegetables I can find at my Farmers Market this summer.  Happy eating!

STRAWBERRY BUTTER

½ cup butter, softened
1 - 8 ounce package cream cheese, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup strawberries, sliced

Place all ingredients in a food processor and pulse until blended. To serve, place in a small dish and serve with bread, muffins and scones.
Store any leftover butter in a covered container in the refrigerator.
